Participant Info

This is a an old-school style ultra trail run.
What you can expect from us:
-
A Well-Marked Course: We're here to test your endurance, not your orienteering skills! The course will be clearly marked with ribbons and signage to help keep you on track.
-
A Well-Stocked Aid Station: Our main aid station will be located at the start/finish area, where you'll return after every loop. Expect plenty of traditional ultra fare, including sweet and salty snacks, electrolyte drinks, warm food, soups, assorted gels, and basic first-aid supplies for cuts, scrapes, and blisters. We'll do our best to keep you fueled, hydrated, and moving!
-
A 5K(ish) Course: What does 5K(ish) mean? It means the loop is exactly as long as your GPS watch says it is! We're not measuring this one down to the inch, but we promise it's not shorter than a 5K. Expect approximately 3.12 miles of classic Connecticut trail running per loop.
-
Awesome Race SWAG: Unique race merchandise, memorable finisher awards, and a few special touches to celebrate your miles and honor Zak.
-
A True Trail Running Party: Expect a laid-back, welcoming atmosphere filled with encouragement, camaraderie, and good old-fashioned trail running fun. Whether you're chasing big miles or just enjoying the day, you're part of the family.
What we expect from you:
-
Kindness and Respect: Treat every runner, volunteer, spectator, and park visitor with kindness and respect. We're all here for the same reason. Disrespectful behavior, harassment, or abuse of any kind will not be tolerated and may result in immediate removal from the event.
-
Come Prepared: This is a trail ultra, not a road race! You are responsible for bringing the appropriate clothing, footwear, hydration, lighting, and other gear you may need throughout the event. If you require specific nutrition, drinks, supplements, or other personal supplies, please bring them with you or keep them at your designated start/finish area. While our aid station will be well stocked, we cannot accommodate every individual preference or dietary requirement.
-
Leave No Trace: Pack out what you pack in. Absolutely no littering—including cups, gel wrappers, or food scraps. Use the designated trash bins at the start/finish area. If you spot trash along the trail, please pick it up and bring it back with you. Intentional littering will result in removal from the race. Let's leave Chatfield Hollow better than we found it!
-
Practice Good Trail Etiquette: Be courteous and aware of other runners and park visitors. If someone approaches from behind on singletrack, move aside when safe and allow them to pass. When overtaking another runner, give a friendly "On your left!" so they know you're coming. Share the trail, be patient, and look out for one another.
-
Have Fun and Embrace the Spirit of Zak: Above all else, enjoy yourself! Push your limits, share some laughs, make new friends, and appreciate the beauty of the trails. This event is about more than miles and finish times. It's about friendship, perseverance, community, and celebrating Zak's life together.
